A one-day retreat to Heyday Farm, a 25-acre sustainable and historic farm on Bainbridge Island. This event, produced by Social Creative Workshops, features a chance to slow down and connect, stroll gardens and woodland trails, and share a plated farm-to-table meal.
Lorene Edwards Forkner, gardener, author, and artist, will lead participants in a watercolor workshop. We’ll talk about color, its role in a pleasing landscape, and how Lorene’s daily practice, which she posts on Instagram @gardenercook, has introduced an expansiveness to the way she views the world. Following this introduction, participants will participate in a hands-on exercise using watercolors to record colors found in fragments of the natural world, a tiny blossom, a leaf, or a twig.
This is not botanical illustration, but as an exercise in learning to see with fresh eyes and an opportunity to slow down, focus, and savor the season.
The day will conclude with a mini-marketplace filled with artisan goods produced by partcipating collaborators. Complete details and registration information.
