We’ve grown very attached

This florist cyclamen (above right) has been by my side since November 2020. Blithely, it bloomed throughout the unrest and fear of winter 2021, then flourished in foliage until late summer when it went dormant. At that point I was quite attached to my hot house sweetheart, so I put the pot with its chubby corm down on my potting bench to watch what might come next.

Several months later, a few tentative leaves began emerging as the plant emerged from dormancy. I watered and watched. In early November, the plant began producing blooms which are even more voluptuous and “extra” than last year. My lovely is back on the drafty windowsill in my bedroom, where it watches over my dreams.
